Local Nature Recovery Strategies

Identify where your development falls within Local Nature Recovery Strategy (LNRS) boundaries to understand the implications for your Biodiversity Net Gain requirements under the incoming spatial risk framework.

Find Your LNRS

The Planning and Infrastructure Act 2025 is bringing significant changes to how Biodiversity Net Gain is assessed. A development's spatial risk will soon be calculated against LNRS boundaries, replacing the current NCA and LPA framework.

At BioMark, we have compiled the latest Local Habitat Maps and LNRS guidance from all 48 responsible authorities into a single, interactive map, which will continue to be updated as further strategies are published. The maps allow developers to identify areas of particular importance, potential biodiversity measures, and areas that could become significant, all of which have direct implications for BNG requirements.

To use the map, hover over an LNRS area or enter a postcode to identify your responsible authority and access its published guidance and Local Habitat Map.
